Property Description
Nature Preserve Building Parcel! 6.85 ac of gently-sloped mostly Maple forest at The Preserve at New Creek Lake. Hiking trails border this lot on three-sides, leading you into the 500-acre community Nature Preserve in 3-directions, taking you to sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and old ruins, or just a pleasant level path for an easy walk. Your choice. New gravel driveway with camping site and new picnic table. Build, or camp. Be sure to request and read the Covenants. NO HUNTING at all, ever. This is a nature preserve. No motorized vehicles in nature preserve... just miles and miles of hiking trails starting directly from your property. Allow time and I and my dogs will hike a trail with you when you visit! Public New Creek Lake adjoins The Preserve and is stocked with trout Spring and Fall for fishing and is said to have great Walleye fishing if you use a boat. Small boats are permitted, but no gasoline motors. Year-round road maintenance and weekly trash collection are included in the annual POA fee of $725. Very social community of 41 owners on almost 1000-acres. Property is in Grant County but uses a New Creek postal address and phone (Mineral County). Cell coverage is spotty and depends on carrier. Internet service is only by satellite, or by cell phone... test your own coverage when you visit. Mapping may respond to New Creek (its assigned address), or Mount Storm, Maysville, or Elk Garden (use whatever works). Some roads were renamed 5 years ago for 911 addressing, so many maps may still be showing old names, but the maps I posted on real estate sites are hopefully correct. A line of windmills exists over the top of the mountain and that line is expected to be extended further, but over 3000' away. If that's a possible issue, then we need to talk more about it and take a look at them. Groceries, general shopping (Walmart) and Potomac Valley Hospital (new) are available in Keyser, 12-14 miles outside the security gate and Cumberland MD (also with new, much larger hospital) is 20-miles beyond that. For access from the DC area, the Rt 93 exit from Corridor H (Rt 48) is just 7-minutes from The Preserve entry gate. Warm-water Mt Storm Lake is a 15-minute drive from The Preserve and offers swimming, SCUBA diving and boating. 15-minutes beyond the lake (30-min from The Preserve), you'll find lots to do in the artsy-recreational twin towns of Davis and Thomas for snow skiing, biking, hiking, coffee shops, live music, fun eateries, plus Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks. This place is worth a trip to see! The Preserve is a nature lover's paradise. Perfect for today's physical-distancing for safety. Excellent builder available for those ready to build.
